April 2007

The April 2007 issue of the Journal of Generic Medicines included an article on biologic generics by MDS Pharma Services Vice President for Biopharmaceutical Development Suzanne Sensabaugh of our Development and Regulatory Services (DRS) line of business.

The April 4 issue of The Wokingham Times newsletter included a brief report on an animal rights protest at our Winnersh site. MDS Pharma Services provided a statement in response to the publication's request for comment. It read, in part: "We regret any disturbance this demonstration may have caused our neighbors. While we support the protestors' rights to express their views, we also stand by our right to continue to conduct our business, which is a legitimate and necessary one. We help to bring new disease treatments to market, and we do it in accordance with all applicable laws and industry regulations, and in accordance with our own internal standards, code of ethics and values. We take pride in making a distinctive contribution to the health and well-being of people around the world."

NGPharma published an online feature about our Global Clinical Development line of business and its management of a malaria trial in Asia and Africa, and also featured MDS Pharma Services President Dave Spaight in an executive roundtable on trends in global clinical trials. Asked how clients can validate a CRO's expertise, Dave said: "In many respects, CROs are selling the collective experience and knowledge of their people. MDS Pharma Services gained important experience in managing a large, high-profile Phase III clinical trial of an anti-malarial drug. The trial involves thousands (2,550) of malaria patients in China, Laos, Thailand, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia and India, where patient recruitment started in November 2006. And in our therapeutic specialty areas of oncology and metabolic disorders, the proof is in our people and our access to patients through strong investigator networks."
